Sometimes depression leads to drug and/or substance abuse. Have you ever said, "I think someone I know needs help?" If you think something is wrong, it very well may be. Often family, friends, and co-workers are the first to notice that someone they care about is struggling with depression. And depression can lead to drug or substance abuse. Intervening isn't always easy and sometimes the desire to help can be mixed with feelings of anger, frustration, or fear. Be Assured, you CAN help. Offer support and encourage treatment, don't badger or bully them and you will be ready to approach the person you are concerned about.
