Love Yourself First

PREVENTION from depression, drug and substance abuse, heartache, and poor health comes when you start loving yourself.

To love yourself means to accept both your personality and your appearance in the mirror. It means that you speak kindly to yourself and respect your own needs. This will in turn help you to speak kindly to others and you will be able to show respect as well.

It can be hard to love yourself, especially if you’re having trouble at work or in your personal life. Here are a few things that can speed you on your way to self-love.

  1. Spend a few hours taking care of yourself, whether that be taking a long bath, getting some extra sleep, or doing some yoga.

  2. Find a new piece of clothing or accessory that makes you feel beautiful. You deserve it!

  3. Take time to journal about your thoughts, goals, fears, and dreams to get back in touch with yourself.

When you’re feeling low in the self-love department, you could benefit from wise, inspirational words that will keep you from focusing on the negative. This will bring;

Less Self-Sabotage - More Understanding Less Judgment - More Empathy Less Reacting - More Responding Less Hyper-Vigilance - More Comfort

Releasing what no longer serves you.

Making space for the things that are meant for you.

Loving yourself is a prevention strategy that supports individuals and helps to prevent the use and misuse of drugs and the development of substance use disorders. Substance use and mental disorders can make daily activities difficult and impair a person’s ability to work, interact with family, and show and experience love which is critical to behavioral and physical health.
